If you enjoy maritime history and sharing your passion and knowledge with others, consider becoming a docent aboard the Spanish-American War Cruiser Olympia or the World War II Submarine Becuna, both National Historic Landmarks.
Become a Docent and lead tours through our two historic ships and museum galleries to the thousands who visit the museum each year. Independence Seaport Museum has a dynamic group of volunteers and staff members who are dedicated to educating the public and we are looking to grow our team! We currently have openings for both weekday and weekend volunteers. As a Docent, you will work closely with the Education Department, and learn all you need to know about our two historic ships and museum galleries.
Our Spring Session training course begins on March 15, 2008.

Workshop on the Water (WOW) is without a doubt one of the most fun places in the Museum -- a genuine working wooden boat workshop. Volunteers are integral to WOW and it is not necessary to be an experienced boat builder or expert wood craftsman. All skill levels are welcome. Volunteers work alongside experienced boatbuilders while learning each phase of wooden boat construction.
To join in the fun, call 215.413.8638 or email Workshop on the Water.
